Fuel Efficient Driving

Big thank you to the Car Blog for their help in creating this article.

Now days if not all but quite a few people are trying to do what they can for the environment. It is critical that everyone wakes up now to the call and starts acting before it's too late. Everyone can help in small ways. How one may ask. Well, it's simple as not cutting down trees, taking public transport whenever possible so that you don't add to the already high levels of pollution etc., Being fuel efficient does not only mean that you are helping the environment, it also means you are saving yourself of extra costs too. That means you are being cost efficient for yourself while you contribute to making the environment a better place! How can you be fuel efficient while driving? Well, we shall discuss exactly that and a lot more here. First off, here are a few tips to keep in mind while wanting to be fuel efficient.

1. You must be ready to travel by public transport once in a while. People get so used to the convenience of their own vehicle that often it becomes irritating to walk even a little. However, a ride on the bus or taking the train once in a while can be fun too.

2. Did you know that not driving in the right gear can also waste fuel? Well, yes its true. When driving at a gear lower than the one required you are wasting fuel. Also when climbing any hills or the likes do not waste fuel by driving in the top gear. Choose a comfortable gear but the trick is to not accelerate it too much.

3. If possible drive when there is less traffic. this will help you avoid getting stuck in traffic as well as the major wastage of fuel will be curbed.

4. Try to drive at a moderate speed. There is absolutely no need to speed unless it is something very urgent that requires your attention. Speeding drinks up fuel like no body's business.

5. See if you can reduce the usage of the air conditioner. You will see the difference in the mileage once you do that.

6. Remember to always keep the car's tires in good shape. Even this contributes to fuel wastage.

7. Keeping your vehicle in a good condition always helps. Give it in for servicing on time and when done always drive it safely and gently. The more you treat the vehicle roughly, the lesser you can expect from it.

8. When travelling, try to carry as less weight with you as possible. The heavier the weight, the more the fuel consumption.

These are the tips that you can follow to be fuel efficient. It maybe a little difficult to adjust to in the beginning especially if you are used to racing the vehicle but with time you will learn the advantages of fuel efficiency and you will be able to follow these tips. Think environment, think fuel efficient.
